mondays
Rock rookies (5 - 6 PM)
Rookies is a music program for kids ages 7 and 8 with no musical experience. Students have a weekly one-hour group lesson to learn about various rock instruments (guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, and vocals), ear training, song structure, and rhythmic patterns within a group setting. Most kids are still discovering their instrument preference at this stage, and we provide the perfect environment to explore different options. This is our first day/time option for Rookies.
Drum Core (5:30 - 6:30 PM)
Drum Core is a program designed for kids ages 8-11 with little-to-no drumming experience, consisting of a weekly 45-minute private lesson and an hour long class. The class teaches essential drum skills for playing confidently in a band, setting the stage for a smooth transition into Rock 101 and beyond!
Queen | Main performance program (6 - 9 PM)
Queen formed in London, England, in 1970, a time when heavy rock and roll was reaching mainstream audiences and record companies were looking everywhere for the “Next Big Thing.” The band achieved global success in no small part due to the charisma and supernatural talent of lead singer/keyboard player, Freddie Mercury. The band also featured Brian May (guitar), Roger Taylor (drums), and John Deacon (bass) - all virtuosos on their respective instruments. Queen is known as one of the most commercially successful bands of all time who also pushed artistic boundaries, a unique and enviable combination in the music industry. Despite Mercury’s untimely death in 1991, Queen remains one of Rock’s most influential and enduring acts. Featuring songs like “We Will Rock You,” “I Want to Break Free,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “We Are the Champions,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and “Don’t Stop Me Now,” Queen is a fantastic show for all students and will provide endless educational opportunities and steep challenges for every experience level.

Funk | Main performance program (7 - 9 PM)
The Funk show celebrates the explosion of infectious, danceable music that grew out of R&B in the 1960s and 1970s. Artists such as James Brown and Sly & The Family Stone prioritized rhythm and groove in their arrangements, inspiring a musical movement that came to define the 1970s and influence much of what came after. Earth Wind & Fire, Parliament / Funkadelic, LaBelle, The Meters, Aretha Franklin, Prince, and The Commodores are just a few of the many great artists who found success in the Funk genre, and their legacy is still heard today in modern popular music by the likes of Bruno Mars, Vulfpeck, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Drummers, bass players, and keys players are sure to refine their sense of time and groove while participating in the Funk Show. Guitar players will realize the guitar is not always a lead instrument, but a dynamic rhythm instrument as well. Vocalists will be put to the test with the genre’s challenging rhythms and demanding stage presence. Funk is an educational - and incredibly FUN - show choice for all experience levels.

CBGB | Main performance program (12 - 2 PM)
The CBGB show is an overview of the early Punk and New Wave bands who got their break at the legendary NYC club. When CBGB opened in 1973, no one had any idea that a Bowery dive bar would become known as the birthplace of Punk. The official name was CBGB & OMFUG: Country, Bluegrass, Blues & and Other Music for Uplifting Gormandizers. While the Ramones generally get credit for starting the Punk scene, Television was actually the first band in this scene to play at CBGBs, on March 31, 1974. Soon artists like Blondie, Talking Heads, and Patti Smith set up residence at CBGBs, along with British bands like The Police and Elvis Costello who made CBGB their stateside hangout. As the Punk scene grew and took hold, other bands such as Cleveland transplants the Dead Boys and New Jersey’s Misfits became CBGB mainstays. The CBGB show offers a diverse and highly educational mix of ridiculously cool artists that can challenge students on any instrument at all experience levels.
Gone Solo | Main performance program (2 - 4 PM)
What happens when rock legends step out on their own? Gone Solo explores the bold, surprising, and often iconic solo careers that sprang from some of the most influential bands in rock history. This show features everything from pop anthems to rock ballads, funk grooves to edgy metal, all drawn from the catalogs of legends like Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins (Genesis), Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac), Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Gwen Stefani (No Doubt), Harry Styles (One Direction), Sting (The Police), Lou Reed (The Velvet Underground), Eric Clapton (Cream) and more! We’ll also explore the unique voices of all four of The Beatles in their solo eras, and students will also dive into the unmatched artistry of Michael Jackson, whose transformation from the Jackson 5 frontman to the King of Pop set the standard for solo greatness. Students will take on music that spans genres, eras, and unexpected turns. This show is ideal for intermediate to advanced students ready to explore wide-ranging styles, develop dynamic stage presence, and celebrate the moment when great artists take the leap on their own.
