BACK TO SCHOOL...OF ROCK!

The Performance Program is School of Rock's hallmark music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year. Utilizing the patented School of Rock Method, Performance Program consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, and refine the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, Performance Program students take the stage and play at local music venues in front of a live audience.

PIONEERS OF ROCK

ROCK 101 | AGES 7-10 | TUESDAYS, 5:30PM-7:00PM

From the beginning of Rock ‘n’ Roll in the 1940’s and 1950’s to the introduction of its sub-genres, this show has it all!  We’ll be exploring the entire history of the genre, starting from Chuck Berry and moving towards today’s rock and roll.

BEST OF THE '80S

ROCK 102 | AGES 10-13 | THURSDAYS, 6:30PM-8:30PM

On paper, the 1980's sounds like a really weird period for music, since it's often characterized by both the rise in popularity of using the synthesizer in recordings, and the increased use of guitar distortion and the abuse of whammy bars. This decade brought us the rise of dance music, new wave, soft rock, glam metal, thrash metal and shred guitar. This show promises to be a lot of fun, with exposure to different styles of music.

Listen to: Guns 'n Roses, The Police, Tears for Fears, Survivor, Cyndi Lauper, Prince, Madonna, Pat Benatar, Europe, The Bangles, DEVO, The Cars, etc.

GUNS N ROSES VS. AEROSMITH

ROCK 103 | AGES 13-HS SENIOR | TUESDAYS, 7:15PM-9:15PM

Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith were both American hard rock bands, GnR forming in Los Angeles and Aerosmith forming in Boston.  While Aerosmith predominantly rose to fame in the 70s and GnR in the late 80's/90's, they scratched the same itch.  Not only did both bands have more attitude than ever, but they had the playing to back it up.  Both bands guitarists (Slash and Joe Perry) hit the scene hard and their solos are still respected and studied to this day.  Meanwhile vocalists Axl Rose and Steven Tyler had voices like sirens and enough charisma to command a stadium.  With their relentless strings of hits, these bands brought hard rock into the mainstream and truly gave definition to the term "Rockstar".

Check out: "Walk This Way", "Dream On", "Sweet Emotion", "Welcome to the Jungle", "Paradise City", and "Sweet Child o' Mine".

ROCK N GROHL

ROCK 103 | AGES 13-HS SENIOR | WEDNESDAYS, 5:15PM-7:15PM

From his youngest days in Nirvana to his legendary career as the Foo Fighters' front man, Dave Grohl's influence on rock is a constant. With a reputation as the "Nicest Guy in Rock," it's no wonder that he's collaborated with the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Paul McCartney, Tenacious D, and Them Crooked Vultures. He's shared the stage with rock's greatest musicians, including Queen, Lemmy Kilmister, David Lee Roth, and even Rick Astley that one time. A powerhouse of rhythm and riffs, any song with Grohl's influence is sure to get your head banging!

Check out: Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures
