How old do you have to be to start School of Rock?

We take students as young as 3 years old into our Little Wing program, which starts teaching them the basics of music through fun, engaging musical-based activities in a group environment.

Does School of Rock teach adults?

Yes! We have an adult program for anyone over the age of 18. Our Adult Band meets every Wednesday from 6:30p to 8:30p and performs live shows all around Houston. You also get weekly one-on-one private lessons with an instructor to further hone your skills.

Do I need my own instrument to learn?

No, you do not need to bring any instrument with you to learn at our school. While it is always encouraged to have your own instrument for you to practice at home, all of our lesson rooms are equipped with the necessary gear for an instructor and student to play, teach, and learn.

We offer a small array of "House Instruments" for guitarists and bassists, drumsticks, and guitar picks/capos to use on a first come, first served basis, but these are in high demand, so we strongly recommend bringing your own if at all possible. Every drum room has two kits, keyboard/piano rooms come with a keyboard, and guitar/bass rooms come with amplifiers that you can plug your personal instrument into, or one of our House Instruments.

Where can I buy my own gear?

We are partnered with many notable brands to offer good deals for School of Rock students on new music equipment through our GearSelect catalog. For anyone enrolled in our program, you can email us at theheights@schoolofrock.com with the Item No. of the gear you would like to get to set-up a purchase through our school and have it shipped straight to your door. Prices may vary. We will contact you to confirm the order and price before it is finalized.
