SPRING SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT!

Hey, Towson Fam!!

Our Spring season is right around the corner and we have an amazing show line-up that we are excited to share with you all! Please be sure to read through the entirety of this email so you will be up to date on the latest School of Rock Towson information.

Enrollment is ongoing. Plans DO NOT cancel at the end of every season. If you wish to cancel or change plans a written notice is needed. *This includes Little Wing, Rookies, Rock 101, Performance Program, Adult Program, and Prep Lessons plans

We will be placing students in the show that will be educational for the student's musical and social growth. Not every student will get their first choice show. Bands will be cast not only based on first come first serve responses but by instrumentation as well.

*Remember that students in Rock 101, Performance, House Band, and Adult programs are not automatically added to the same rehearsal time that they are currently enrolled in.*

Remember, School of Rock is a year-round program. We break the year into 4-month seasons in order to set new goals for our students and change rehearsal material each season.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN CHOOSING A SHOW:
What do you NEED to become a BETTER musician?
What genre have you not done yet?
What did your private instructor suggest?
What did your show director suggest?
Don't pick a show that all your friends are in! Be selfish and pick the show that will help you grow the most as a musician. You will make friends and most likely know some of the students in your new show.

LISTEN BEFORE YOU SIGN UP! KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SIGNING UP FOR!

Trust your instructors to choose what will work best for you.
Unsure which program/band is the best for you? We have you covered! Give us a shout. We'd love to help

*Our Fall into Spring Prep Week starts February 2nd and runs through February 7th. During this time, School of Rock Towson will be closed for lessons, classes, and rehearsals

PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

Classic Metal - Wednesdays | 6pm - 8pm
Classic Metal is widely regarded as ranging from the late 1960s Proto-Metal sound of Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin up until the mid 1980s, when Thrash Metal reigned supreme with bands like the ‘big four’ (Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer) and Hair Metal was still a blip on the horizon. Full of guitar wizardry and riffs galore, Classic Metal’s explosion in the 1970s and early '80s would set the tone for generations of Metal bands to come and leave an indelible impression on the music industry. This show will trace the roots of metal, from the pioneer bands like Black Sabbath and Rainbow to metal’s big break in the '80s with bands like Metallica and Megadeth. If you’re looking to sharpen your shredding skills on guitar and bass, speed up your chops on the drums, or hone your high range vocals - the Classic Metal show is for you!

90's Rock - Saturdays | 1pm - 3pm
The ‘90s Rock show is arguably one of the most popular School of Rock shows in our collection. Packed with a plethora of what are now known as "classic rock" songs, the stylistic spectrum of this show is wide enough to excite any student rocker! Hard Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Alternative and Indie encompass this decade of music that many parents grew up on! While some connect the era of ‘90s Rock to the Seattle-area Grunge scene with bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam, this show expands to also feature acts like Weezer, Hole, Oasis, No Doubt, Alanis Morissette, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day. The ‘90s Rock show will stretch any student’s musical progress while delighting and creating nostalgia for their parents!

ADULT PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival is one of those bands that you can’t help but crack a smile while listening to. A staple of classic rock radio, their music has transcended generations and remains just as powerful today as it was back in the late ’60s and early ’70s. Inspired by the roots rock of the mid to late ’50s, CCR would release a string of hits within a short 4-year period from 1968-1972, including “Proud Mary”, “Bad Moon Rising”, “Fortunate Son”, and “Down on the Corner.”  There are few shows School of Rock offers that are as purely educational as this one. Every song is a master class on rhythm-section groove, economical lead guitar, and vocal expressiveness. CCR is accessible enough for beginners but can challenge even advanced players - and the songs are super fun!
