Ken Giron
Music Director, Drum Teacher
Ken has been playing drums since high school and performed in various impromptu staff/student ensembles. After graduating, Ken spent some time playing, touring, and recording multiple EPs and albums in death metal bands.
Ken then went on to work in education and taught middle and high school. He has been working at School of Rock DC since September 2022 in various capacities, most recently as the school's Music Director and House Band Director.
Phil Cooksey
Bass Guitar Teacher, Band Director
Phil has been playing bass since he first picked up the instrument in the ninth grade. He went on to play in the school rock band for four years and studied music as an elective in the eleventh and twelfth grades, doing his final exam performance on bass.
Phil went on to work professionally in the music industry behind the glass as a mix / mastering engineer with EMI for nine years, while also earning a bachelor's degree in Education. He has taught grades 7-12 and now works part-time for School of Rock DC as our dedicated bass instructor.
Joe DeMartin
Vocal Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Joe began his musical journey as a School of Rock student in Baltimore, Maryland. He quickly fell in love with performance and the stage and, through passion, practice, and dedication, worked his way up to become a School of Rock AllStar. In high school, Joe took classical voice lessons, sang as a section leader in the choir, and led rehearsals for his a cappella group. Joe continued studying music in college and sang in both collegiate and professional choirs.
Joe has instructed students at School of Rock since September 2022. He is in his first year of law school at American University Washington College of Law. A few non-musical fun facts about Joe are that he is a diehard Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan, his favorite places to travel are national parks featuring long hikes, and he also loves to cook and try new recipes.
Hannah Diamond
Vocal Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Band Director
Hannah has been engaged with music for the majority of her life, beginning piano at age 6 and voice lessons at age 11. She participated in marching band, as well as all her school musicals through both middle and high school. Hannah was selected for the NY State School Music Association's 2017 All-State Women's Chorus. She went on to study music at American University, graduating with her BA in 2022. While there, she most notably led the alto section of the American University Chamber Singers.
In addition to her work at School of Rock, Hannah also has experience working with audio and video recording and production, social media management for local musicians, and independent concert venue promotion. She is currently taking steps toward a career in education.
Caeden Cloud
Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher
Caeden is a multi-instrumentalist instructor and social media manager at School of Rock Washington DC/Cleveland Park. She was born and raised in the Philadelphia area and is currently living in Washington, DC. Her musical experience started with her involvement in children’s choirs at the age of 6. She started learning guitar and percussion instruments at age 10 and has since self-taught other instruments such as bass and synthesizers.
Caeden graduated in 2022 from American University, where she was involved as the head of audio production in the student-run record label Second District Records. She has played guitar, bass, drums, and vocals for bands such as King of Nowhere, Grimm Winter, and Chateau Romani. Caeden realized her passion for teaching and her role as a youth resource through her work here at School of Rock!
Emma DuFrene
Guitar Teacher, Band Director
Emma Dufrene is a self-taught guitarist from South Louisiana. She specializes in guitar music theory, with a focus on helping to understand and demystify the complexities of the instrument, as well as music structure as a whole.
Emma is in love with and appreciates just about every genre of music. She has been with School of Rock for over a year and absolutely loves it!
Noah Albright
Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Noah Albright is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in keyboards, bass, and music production. He has been a member of the New Orleans music scene for over a decade, playing with local brass, funk, jazz, and rock bands along with artists like Davell Crawford, the Brassaholics, Tarriona "Tank" Ball from Tank & the Bangas, and Kermit Ruffins.
Noah studied jazz performance at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and later studied music at the University of New Orleans.
Bob Tolf
Guitar Teacher, Vocal Teacher, Band Director
Bob is a singer/songwriter who has been playing guitar for over 40 years, beginning lessons at the age of 15. He has played a wide variety of genres in several different bands: from proto-punk to progressive rock and folk rock. Bob also recently completed three years of classical guitar studies under João Figueiroa.
Currently, Bob appears every Wednesday from 7pm to 10pm at Wingo's with "Jude the Obscure and Friends," performing pop classics (Beatles, Stones, Eagles), jazz standards, and Bossa Nova tunes. He draws inspiration from many rock legends across all kinds of styles and loves teaching!
Alexander Scott
Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Vocal Teacher
Alex has had an eventful career as a professional musician for over a decade. Transitioning from a high school rock band to an indie-pop/folk solo act, he has a wide range of mastery in all varieties of music genres and techniques.
Alex has been singing and playing guitar and piano since the age of 5. After years of gigging, recording EPs, and instructing students, he has since found passion in instructing the ambitious younger generation of rock stars as a part-time guitar, keyboard, and vocal instructor at School of Rock in Washington, DC.
Miles Libby
Drum Teacher, Band Director
Miles has been playing drums since the first grade and went on to play in both his middle and high school bands, learning a wide variety of percussion instruments. Since 2016, he has consistently performed with multiple bands.
Miles began teaching children from ages 8-11 in 2021 and now teaches all ages at School of Rock DC.
