Ariel Fisher
Music Director
Ariel fell in love with music performance in the theater where she sang, danced, and acted for nearly two decades. She spent her formative years studying vocal genres such as classical, choral, musical theatre, pop a cappella, and rock. She attended Winthrop University and earned her degree in musical theatre and outdoor leadership.
Ariel has been playing in rock bands such as WAGS and I Hate Dave for over five years. She also occasionally DJs, produces, and sings features on hip/hop and EDM tracks. Her musical influences range from chamber choral music to hardcore punk.
Ariel worked as an instructor at School of Rock Charlotte for four years and has worked as School of Rock Waxhaw's music director since we opened in 2025.
Ariel aims to inspire students to grow and unlock their ultimate musical potential while expressing themselves through music that they love.
Sabrina Mitchell
Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Raised by a drummer dad and a music-loving mom, Sabrina grew up surrounded by all genres of music. She started piano at age five, performed in competitions, and developed a classical background on flute. She also played bass keyboard in a jazz band, performing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and continues to explore multiple instruments and music production.
After working in Denver’s live music scene with artists like Five Finger Death Punch, The Offspring, Twenty One Pilots, and Metallica, Sabrina returned to Waxhaw as a keyboard + piano teacher to share her experience and passion with students at School of Rock Waxhaw — helping them build confidence, master music, and own the stage.
Josh Horne
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Josh started playing guitar at a young age, which quickly became an obsession. What started as typical metal and rock riffs, yielded to a fascination of music theory, harmony, scales, and all things concerning sound design.
Over the years, Josh has found work as a session musician for recording studios, commercial cover bands, live sound, private lessons, original soundtrack composing, and various forms of mixing and mastering audio production, with special interests in arrangements and modern orchestration. Now, Josh brings this experience to School of Rock Waxhaw.
Currently Josh operates his own private project recording studio, producing everything from swampy blues rock, crushing death metal, modern outlaw country, synth wave, EDM, indie soundtracks, visceral doom soundscapes, and more. The centerpiece constant? You guessed it, guitars. Never enough guitars. Josh's influences include everything from Megadeth and Carcass to Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman, with some SRV, ZZ, and Petty for good measure.
Anne Alexander
Owner, General Manager
Anne is a School of Rock parent. After her daughter enrolled in the School of Rock North Dallas Performance Program, she was quickly impressed by her daughter's enthusiasm for the program and the genuine community of the school. This is the best activity ever!
In the fall of 2024, Anne's family moved to Union County, and she and her husband, Steve, knew they needed to bring School of Rock to local students. They signed a franchise agreement and found a terrific location, constructed a top-notch school, and continue to hire the best talent around, creating the best job ever at School of Rock Waxhaw!
Anne's background is MANY years of being a CPA, but don't let that fool you, she's a rocker at heart.
Mark Abraham
Drum Teacher, Vocal Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
School of Rock Waxhaw teacher Mark grew up in an Asian home, where learning an instrument was an obligation. His father played in a rock band in the height of the 90s, self-taught on keyboard + piano and bass guitar. He selected drums, with the mindset of “if I have to do it, at least I get to hit things!” In seventh grade, he was cast as the co-lead in the musical, “A Year with Frog and Toad.” His first applause eroded all his fears indefinitely, and he began to seek out the stage. He alternated theatre and praise band.
Quickly realizing his meager drum skills wouldn’t cut it for a live performance, he put in immense work to genuinely learn to play. He joined School of Rock as a student, performing with the Charlotte House Band for his last two years. During his time at School of Rock, Mark’s courage to play other instruments and eventually sing in front of people developed to the point that he joined a short-lived Charlotte-based indie progressive metal band as a drummer and vocalist. He began singing, writing, and producing with Vizion Worship, the worship organization of Vizion Church in East Charlotte. Through connections at his church, he now song-writes with old friends under the pseudonym, “Sophia Ascent”.
