DECEMBER STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: ZEKE SCROGGS

The guitar player doesn't even remember when he started to play music. All he knows is he loves creating music and joining School of Rock was a way for him to explore that passion.

Zeke Scroggs grew up fascinated with making music. He says all the sounds started coming together before he can remember. But it wasn't until recently when he realized the guitar is what he loves.

So when the School of Rock opened in Ankeny, it was a great opportunity to explore that interest. Since joining in September, Scroggs has also become part of the performance program.

"I play the electric guitar. I chose it because it's a cool instrument and very fun to play and learn," he said.

With every practice and rehearsal with bandmates comes a feeling of freedom in playing music.

"There are so many combinations of notes and chords to play around with," he said.

As he continues his learning journey, he hopes to encourage other musicians to just have fun and not worry about not sounding the best right away.

"That type of stuff comes with time," Scroggs said.
