MARCH STAFF HIGHLIGHT: TIM BOHNENKAMP

The drums and keyboard instructor started his journey early with home lessons and his love for music stuck! Read on to find out why he decided to teach professionally.

Growing up playing classical instruments, Tim Bohnenkamp was more of a rock star. He says his high school and college days involved heavy metal t-shirts. He even got a music performance degree from the University of North Texas.

At age 6, he started learning piano at home. Those lessons turned into playing at church... Four years later in school, he started playing drums in the band. His passion became more serious in high school from being in the jazz band. Eventually, he became part of all-state locally during his senior year at Valley High School.

Besides playing music, he was also exposed to a variety of music thanks to his dad's large record collection. Over time, teaching felt like a great way to give back to future musicians.

"I've been listening to and studying music for many years and want to pass that knowledge on to anyone interested in knowing more about music," he said.

He continues to inspire students of all ages at the school, by teaching keyboards and drums. Bohnenkamp hopes his years of knowledge of music can inspire his students to be the best they can be.

Favorite song to perform: He says "I can't really name a favorite song to play or listen to. I love so many kinds of music, I couldn't say."
