Calvin Barnhill
General Manager
Calvin has been with the School of Rock family for five years, most recently as General Manager at The Heights. He is a passionate musician, having played guitar for over 15 years, and is dedicated to creating a “home away from home” for our students, staff, and families. A few fun facts about Calvin when he's not at School of Rock West University Place: in his free time, he practices martial arts, he loves to cook, and his favorite bands are the Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra, Dance Gavin Dance, and Flight of The Conchords.
Logan Gill
Music Director
Born and raised in Houston, Logan has been involved with the arts since before he could walk! An avid musician for most of his life, his guitar work spans many genres, from jazz to classical to rock and roll. When he’s not teaching at School of Rock West University Place, Logan is most likely writing, singing, and performing with his band, The Deadly Blooms.
Rowan Colleran
Studio Coordinator
School of Rock West University Place studio coordinator Rowan is an Education Major at the University of Houston. Her favorite artists are The Amazing Devil, and Will Wood. Rowan has is the proud parent of two cats named Calliope and Odysseus.
Candi Rohn
Studio Coordinator
School of Rock West University Place studio coordinator Candi grew up in West Michigan to a musical family and moved to Texas in 2020 to study music at University of North Texas and University of Houston. She holds three degrees in music performance with her main instrument being flute and secondary instrument piano. She has performed with the University Orchestras as well as with the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra in their Fall Arts Celebration with Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Candi loves music of all kinds but rock has a special place in her heart, and her favorite band currently is Spiritbox.
Zach Jones
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Zach has been involved in music for nearly 20 years. He picked up a guitar at a young age, as well as the bass guitar. Zach has been with several Houston bands throughout his life as both a lead and rhythm guitarist. His dedication and passion for the art form of songwriting inspire him to make music on his own and challenge his creative limits in terms of what is possible when playing and making music. Zach's love for the guitar, music, and teaching, in general, knows no bounds.
Matt Mireles
Drum Teacher
Matt Mireles was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He plays drums for Zegovia, an alternative rock band with energetic and versatile live shows. Coming from a musical family, drums were an instant passion for Matt. He loves to take his passion for drumming and make his lessons a fun environment.
Reef Stallworth
Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher
Reef is a musician that has one name, like Prince or Flea. He has a ton of musical experience and has been trained in jazz as a bassist and composer. Reef started playing rock and hip-hop at Prairie View A&M University. He loves being able to teach both bass and drums to our students as a way of sharing what he knows.
Joy Meis
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Joy's musical journey began in Birmingham, England, where she started taking classical piano at five and classical guitar lessons at seven. During middle school, she joined the orchestra, where she started learning the violin and in her high school orchestra she competed in state level competitions. At the age of 14, she received her first electric guitar and it opened up an entirely new world of music. Joy's musical journey has now taken her to teaching at School of Rock West University Place. While rooted in classical music, she also loves modern musicians such as Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, and Tim Henson!
Jack Riggs
Drum Teacher
Jack is a (mostly) self taught drummer from Houston who has been playing since he was 10. He began learning drums centered around rock music but as he grew up he moved toward more jazz, punk, electronic and experimental music. He loves playing live and has a passion to share what he’s learned with anyone interested at School of Rock West University Place.
Maynor Mayorquin
Guitar Teacher
Maynor is a self-taught guitarist and Guitar Teacher at School of Rock West University Place. He started playing guitar at the age of 13 when his grandfather gifted him his first acoustic guitar. Motivated by bands like My Chemical Romance, he continued to play as much music as he could, from pop punk to math rock. Eventually, he formed his own bands and is active in the local Houston music scene.
Mac Frazier
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Mac is a native Houstonian who has played guitar and bass guitar for eight years. He is part of the local band Cruel Filthy River and performs country/indie rock music at venues around Texas. Mac is excited to share his passion for music and performing at School of Rock West University Place.
Casandra Tenorio
Vocal Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Casandra is a vocal teacher at School of Rock West University Place. She has college degrees in music with a focus in vocal performance. She loves teaching and wants to spend her life helping other musicians reach their fullest potential. She is inspired by her classical background and family to continue living a musical life.
