We're thrilled to share an update about School of Rock Chicago's inaugural multi-city tour! Despite battling 30 hours on a bus, 1,700 miles on the road, and early call times, our students had the opportunity of a lifetime.
The tour kicked off in Glenview, Illinois, at Whiskey River, where our students played alongside School of Rock Glenview. The packed venue set an incredible tone for the week.
On Monday morning, our students departed Chicago at 3:30 AM (yes, you read that right!) and headed to Cleveland. They spent the day exploring the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, viewing exhibits, and learning fascinating rock history. Our students even impressed museum-goers with an impromptu performance in the Hall of Fame Garage. That afternoon, they had the incredible pleasure of performing with the Cleveland School of Rock on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Stage. Being able to say "I performed at the Rock Hall" will undoubtedly be a cherished memory and conversation starter for our teenagers for years to come.
On Tuesday, they traveled to the New Jersey Shore to play with School of Rock Redbank at Headliner Oasis. This was an especially exciting moment as the leaders of School of Rock Redbank are former School of Rock Chicago students and staff! The kids were thrilled to reconnect. One of our students even had the opportunity to sub in on a song with the Redbank band, and the energy was off the charts. The bands meshed incredibly well, and their showmanship was unbelievable. Nicolas, a 15-year-old Chicago student, was quoted saying, "This was the most fun I have ever had, not only on stage but in life. This even beat opening up for Coheed."
Wednesday was spent exploring Philadelphia, including visits to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. They even witnessed a wedding ceremony at Love Park, and all the kids cheered for the newlyweds! That evening, they played alongside School of Rock Cherry Hill. After each band performed their individual sets, they spent an hour performing a "super set" where students from both schools — who had never met or rehearsed together — performed songs. The evening culminated in a powerful rendition of "Seven Nation Army," where students tagged each other in and out, resulting in all 40+ students on stage by the end of the song!
On Thursday, they departed for Pittsburgh, making a quick stop at Top Golf for a bite and some games. Then, they headed to 31 Sports Bar and Grill, where they were warmly welcomed by School of Rock Wexford and South Hills. Both schools were amazing hosts, and all three schools absolutely crushed their sets. Featuring mosh pits and even some crowd surfing, this was the perfect final stop for their inaugural tour.
We're incredibly proud of our students' hard work, dedication, and the amazing experiences they had on this tour.
