Meet Ashton Freeman, Vocal Instructor at School of Rock Doylestown

Inspiring confidence and creativity through music

Ashton Freeman is a dedicated vocal instructor at School of Rock Doylestown, where students learn to find their voice and gain confidence on stage. A singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Ashton began piano lessons at age seven before expanding to guitar, ukulele, and bass. Their diverse musical background allows them to connect with students of all ages and skill levels across Bucks County.

While studying at Goucher College, Ashton served as musical director for a renowned a cappella group, composing and arranging original music while leading live performances. Today, they perform throughout New Hope, Lambertville, and Doylestown under the name Souperfruit, while recording their debut album.

At School of Rock Doylestown, Ashton blends vocal technique with creativity and fun. Their teaching approach helps beginners take their first steps into voice lessons and guides advanced singers to refine tone, projection, and stage presence. Families from Jamison, Buckingham, and neighboring towns appreciate Ashton’s ability to inspire students to grow as musicians and as confident performers.

“The most important part of music instruction is remembering to have fun. Confidence grows when students enjoy the process.” — Ashton Freeman

Seeing students improve through new techniques. It’s so rewarding to watch them grow and actually feel the difference in their singing.

Around 7 to 8 years old. That’s when students start developing memory and discipline skills that make consistent progress possible.
5. Do I need any singing experience before starting lessons?
Not at all. All experience levels are welcome.
6. What styles of music do you teach?
I tailor lessons to the student’s interests, covering a wide range of genres — from Taylor Swift to The Strokes.

Everyone gets nervous, even experienced performers. I remind students that the audience is full of friends and supporters. The key is to have fun.
