MAKE THIS SPRING ROCK

The Performance Program is School of Rock's hallmark music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year. Utilizing the patented School of Rock Method, Performance Program consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, and refine the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, Performance Program students take the stage and play at local music venues in front of a live audience.

GLAM ROCK

Between the psychedelic hippie culture and the brash punk scene, Glam Rock swept across the UK and the US in the early ‘70s with a bang (and some glitter). This eclectic movement appealed with its wildly big-haired aesthetics and even bigger sounds. Expect everything from wailing guitar riffs, ethereal ballads, slick synth solos and theatrical vocals in this show! Wrap it all up in leopard-print and you’ve got Glam Rock!

LED ZEPPELIN

Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band ever (no, we won’t hear your arguments). Consisting of Jimmy Page on guitar, Robert Plant on vocals, John Paul Jones on bass and keys, and drummer John Bonham, this band is cited as one of the preignitors of heavy metal. The incredible body and variety of songs that this band produced has made them completely timeless.

Listen to: Stairway to Heaven, Immigrant Song, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Good Times Bad Times, Ramble On, Kashmir, Rock and Roll, D'yer Mak'er, etc.

BEST OF THE 80'S

AGES 13-18 | TUESDAYS, 5:15PM-7:15PM

On paper, the 1980's sounds like a really weird period for music, since it's often characterized by both the rise in popularity of using the synthesizer in recordings, and the increased use of distortion and the abuse of whammy bars. This decade brought us the rise of dance music, new wave, soft rock, glam metal, thrash metal and shred guitar. This show promises to be a lot of fun, with exposure to different styles of music.

Listen to: Guns 'n Roses, The Police, Tears for Fears, Survivor, Cyndi Lauper, Prince, Madonna, Pat Benatar, Europe, The Bangles, DEVO, The Cars, etc.

POP ROCK

AGES 13-18 | WEDNESDAYS, 5:15PM-7:15PM

When you think hard rock, this should be the first band that comes to mind. AC/DC is arguably rock & roll’s LOUDEST bands!! It’s all about sick guitar riffs, thunderous bass lines, big drums and stratospheric vocals. Of course no one can deny that Jack Black was inspired by Angus Young in his Role for School of Rock the movie!
