The Performance Program is School of Rock's hallmark music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year. Utilizing the patented School of Rock Method, Performance Program consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, and refine the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, Performance Program students take the stage and play at local music venues in front of a live audience.
CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL & FRIENDS

What do you get when you take four dudes from San Francisco and have them play Southern rock style music? Creedence Clearwater Revival! This American rock band, made up of brothers John & Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, were active from 1967-1972, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. This show is dedicated to their music, and the music of artists like them! Get ready to sing about bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River, and maybe even strike a political tone or two.
GREEN DAY VS. WEEZER

These are, without a doubt, two of the most legendary names in the punk/rock genre. Both bands got their start in the early 90’s in the southern California region. Their gritty, rebellious sound resonated with 90’s outcasts everywhere, skyrocketing them to fame within a few short years. Both bands have also maintained an impressive amount of relevancy in the past two decades, further cementing them as international icons. QUEEN

The band that needs no introduction (but here’s one anyway). Queen has been a global presence in popular culture for over four decades ever since their inception in 1970. Guitarist Brian May, bassist John Deacon, and drummer Roger Taylor, led by their iconic vocalist Freddie Mercury, joined forces and created music that is quirky, universal, and memorable. Expect extensively layered vocal harmonies, tasteful solos, spotlighted keys, and detailed drum and bass work. Listen to: Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me Now, and Stone Cold Crazy.

Rock and Roll has been an instrument of social change since its birth in the ‘50s, and continues to offer a platform for artists with a message in the present day. This show will highlight the greatest socially-conscious rock songs of all time. The set list will be a huge mix of styles and eras – from Bob Dylan to Bob Marley and the Clash to System of a Down – with one common bond: the artists’ desire to have their message heard.
NIRVANA

In 1990 Kurt Cobaine, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl joined forces and crafted a sound louder and angrier than anything that had come before them. The result was Nirvana. Their sound and image served as a rebellion to the polished and glammed out hair metal bands and electronic music of the 1980’s. Their world domination was cut short however by lead singer/guitarist Kurt Cobaine’s untimely suicide in 1994. Their music lives on, having inspired countless bands and continuing to impact culture at large. These songs are loud, aggressive, and extremely fun no matter the instrument!
CBGB's

CBGB stands for Country Bluegrass Blues, but those are definitely not the styles of music that made this New York concert venue famous in the late 70s and early 80s! The breeding ground for America’s New Wave punk scene, CBGB gave many now legendary bands their first break. Artists like Talking Heads, Blondie, Television, Patti Smith, the Ramones, Elvis Costello and the Voidoids would perform at the club regularly, and hang out there even more often. CBGB closed in 2006, but its legacy lives on - the club probably had the most famously disgusting bathroom in rock and roll history, and its front awning now hangs in the lobby of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
