On June 27, our School of Rock Princeton House Band will begin one of the most exciting traditions of the year: the annual summer tour. The 2026 Queen City Tour will take our student musicians from New Jersey to Washington, D.C., North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, and back home again. Along the way, they will perform at venues throughout the East Coast and share the stage with fellow School of Rock students from North Carolina and Virginia. Tour stops include the Hard Rock Cafe in Washington, D.C., The Move in Greensboro, North Carolina, Common Market South End in Charlotte, North Carolina, B.C. Brewery in Maryland, and School of Rock Downingtown. For many of these students, the tour is the culmination of months, and in some cases years, of lessons, rehearsals, performances, and hard work. What Is House Band? House Band is School of Rock Princeton's premier audition-based performance group. Each year, students audition for a limited number of spots on the team. Those selected represent the school at community events, festivals, charitable fundraisers, regional showcases, and special performances throughout the year. Being selected for House Band is about much more than musical ability. Students earn their place through commitment, preparation, teamwork, leadership, and a willingness to support one another both on and off the stage. Learning Beyond the Lesson Room Private lessons and rehearsals provide the foundation, but some lessons can only be learned through experience. Throughout the Queen City Tour, students will participate in sound checks, perform on unfamiliar stages, work with venue staff, adapt to different performance environments, and collaborate with musicians from other School of Rock communities. They will learn how to prepare for a show, support fellow band members, manage challenges as they arise, and perform in front of new audiences night after night. These experiences build confidence, resilience, communication skills, and leadership qualities that extend far beyond music. Representing Mercer County Our House Band students come from communities throughout Mercer County and Central New Jersey, including Princeton, Lawrenceville, Hopewell, Pennington, Robbinsville, West Windsor, East Windsor, and Montgomery. As they travel throughout the East Coast this summer, they will represent not only School of Rock Princeton but also the families, teachers, and communities that have supported them along the way. More Than a Tour One of the most rewarding parts of the Queen City Tour is the opportunity for students to connect with other young musicians who share the same passion for music and performance. Students will spend six days traveling, performing, learning, and creating memories together. They will meet fellow musicians from School of Rock locations throughout North Carolina and Virginia, gain new experiences, and build friendships that often last well beyond the tour itself. Long after the final performance, the confidence gained, lessons learned, and memories created on tour continue to shape students both as musicians and as individuals.
