At School Of Rock Napa, we offer a variety of seasonal camps for complete beginners all the way up to experienced players. For students with no experience, we offer Rookies camps for 6-7 year olds and Rock 101 camps for 8-13 year olds. Themed camps for students 8 to 17 with some musical experience, may include The Beatles, 80's Rock, AC/DC, Pop Punk, Green Day. Heavy Metal, Taylor Swift, and more. At what age should students start music lessons at School of Rock Napa?

At School Of Rock Napa, students can start as young as age 4 in our group class, Little Wing. For students age 6 to 7 we offer the group class, Rookies. From age 8 to 10 we offer the Rock 101 program, combining a group rehearsal with a private lesson. This is perfect for complete beginners and less experienced students. For students 8 to 17, we offer the Performance Program which pairs a weekly private lesson with a weekly group rehearsal and a seasonal performance at a real venue.

What should students expect in their first lesson at School of Rock Napa?

A first lesson at School Of Rock Napa, will focus on getting to know the student and giving them what they need, in a friendly, positive environment. For Rock 101 and Performance Program students, our instructors will carefully select songs. exercises and other materials using our SongFirst methodolgy. We will get them set up with their account on the Method App and show them how to practice effectively at home. Students will be provided with all the tools they need to take their first steps on their musical journey.

This may vary in individal students, but at School Of Rock Napa, students have the most success starting private lessons at around 8 years old. For 7 years old and under we offer group programs. Little Wing 4-5, Rookies 6-7. We do this because we want to make sure that our students start their musical journey with a program that is age appropriate. Our experienced staff are qualified to determine the best option for your child.

For ages 4 to 5 we recommend a group program like Little Wing. Little Wing is School of Rock's music program designed for our youngest students (mainly 4- to 5-year-olds). This music program for toddlers and preschoolers features a special curriculum where students play games and participate in other interactive activities to help them internalize the foundational skills they will use as their musical abilities grow. These music classes for kids are the perfect start to a lifelong love of music. Little Wing students have one weekly group lesson in which they use classic rock songs to learn about rhythm, song structure, melody, and dynamics through play.

Rookies is a music program designed for children (typically 6 to 7-year-olds) with no previous musical experience. As with all our music programs, Rookies adheres to the patented School of Rock Method. Our Method's core philosophy is that performance-based music education is the best way for students to gain musical proficiency. Rookies students have one weekly group music lesson where they learn music fundamentals like chords, rhythm, and song structure. Utilizing the patented School of Rock Method, the Performance Program consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts. The School of Rock Napa's House Band music program gives students 18 and under the opportunity to join a gigging band composed of fellow musicians from their school. These students perform additional live shows throughout the year. All students in the Performance Program have the opportunity to audition for a spot in their school's House Band. Once selected, House Band members become leaders in their School of Rock Napa community, and perform live shows at local events, and rock venues throughout the year.

School of Rock’ Napas Recording & Production Program teaches the fundamentals of recording and mixing via our patented SongFirst™ methodology. These principles are then applied in weekly group lessons where students work together to record and mix their own productions of famous songs from rock history.
