General Manager Mia Read
Mia Read
General Manager
Mia Read joined the School of Rock in Eden Prairie in 2022 as a studio coordinator and is now the General Manager. Mia grew up in Waconia, Minnesota and one of her favorite subjects in school was creative writing. That led to her love for writing and playing music.

Mia's main instrument is the guitar, but she has really enjoyed playing drums lately. Her favorite music genres are emo, hardcore, pop-punk, and progressive metal. Mia is self-taught and wishes there was something like School of Rock when she was younger.

Mia believes we have the important responsibility of educating kids in music performance while simultaneously making it a blast in the process. One of the coolest things she has ever seen is watching someone start as a complete beginner and then see that student progress over months and years. Mia is grateful to be a part of it.

Jake (Ren) has lived in the Twin Cities area for their entire life. They are an instructor and show director at School of Rock Eden Prairie. Outside of School of Rock, they enjoy spending time with their dog and cats, watching movies, and gaming. Their favorite subject in school was Literature and Writing. They are passionate about supporting grassroots music communities along with other very important social causes.

Jake (Ren) plays guitar, bass, drums, keys, and sings. They consider themself more of a songwriter/producer than an instrumentalist. They enjoy all music genres and actively listen for the overall emotions an artist is conveying and/or the unique harmonic/rhythmic movements being used. They are most passionate about playing Jazz, Funk, and R&B. However, you can catch them playing music with an indie rock and indie pop band!

Jake (Ren) loves having the opportunity to connect with the musicians of the future. They believe that supporting young people in their musical endeavors is the best way to make sure that music, as a cultural touchstone, is still valued under the stresses of modern society. Although they acknowledge that theory/technique is important; they believe there is so much more to being a musician. This includes fostering a healthy music community, and they believe it’s important to allow the youth to learn how to do that. Last, but not least; they enjoy teaching music because it makes them a better musician. Every day, they are learning just like our students.
